Entry Requirements:

5 GCSES at Level 4 and above, including a GCSE in Design & Technology at Grade 4 and above.

 

You can:

Apply to enrol on the A Level Design & Technology: Product Design course. This creative and thought-provoking qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers. Especially those in the creative industries. They will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put their learning into practice by producing prototypes of their choice. 

 

This will mean:

You will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers.

 

This course will appeal to any student who:

You have a passion for design and technology, a GCSE in Design Technology would be advantageous but not essential. This course would be suitable for students who have a passion for the world of design and technology.

 

You will:

Complete three modules including one piece of NEA work and two written exam papers. 

 

Course Modules are:

  • NEA - Students must undertake a small-scale design and make task alongside creating a final 3D prototype based on a context and design brief developed by the student.  Practical application of technical principles, designing and making principles.

  • Paper 1 - Technical Principles 

  • Paper 2 - Designing and Making Principles.

 

With this subject you could:

Design and Technology supports students in a variety of ways and in a range of career opportunities. There are numerous career paths such as; Architecture, Engineering, Mechanical, Aerospace Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design and many more. Complimentary A Level courses include Science, Mathematics and Art & Design. This course could lead to higher education such as Level 4 apprenticeships and university degree level.
