Our house motto is STANG Stay True and Never Give Up, which we endeavour to achieve to the best of our abilities.
Our house colour is orange representing a warm welcome. Tigger the tiger is the Stang mascot full of bounce, energy and fun.
We are honoured to be named after Sister Dorothy Stang, a sister of the Notre Dame de Namur. She worked tirelessly along with other Sisters in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, supporting the poorer communities to build more independent futures for their families until her murder in 2005. She was killed because of her commitment to the communities there, and for her efforts in the protection and preservation of the Amazon. Following her death, 20,000 of the Amazon’s 1.6 million square miles were placed under federal environmental protection. Even after her death she has given hope to many, and her work remains as the people of Anapu continue in the tradition of their role model and compatriot Sister Dorothy.
We have a whole classroom block called Stang building, named after her here at school. In there hangs a painting as a constant reminder to us all.

Stang takes part with all the other houses on various fundraising events throughout the year, some that have benefited have been a Macmillan Coffee morning, Children in Need, CAFOD Walk/Run for Women. They do this in many different ways such as a whole school mufti and cake sales to name but a few. Each year the houses come together to donate items through a Reverse Advent Calendar project, where items are collected to donate to either food banks, homeless charities or as hamper boxes for senior citizens in St Peter’s Parish. Recently some of the Stang students raised funds via a cake and card sale, the amount will be donated to the Children’s Ward at the local hospital in Plymouth.
Students also take part in inter-house challenges gaining valuable house points, which eventually result in a yearly cup presentation to the overall winners. Such events such as egg and spoon racing, space hopping, pancake flipping, bench ball and quizzes are all hard fought for in an attempt to raise the house point totals over the year. Every year all Year 7 students have the opportunity to take part in a 2 day residential to Buckfast Abbey, where they have the chance to make new friendships, spend time together, cooking, making lanterns, visiting the Abbey and having fun out of the classroom. They also take Saint Julie with them.
Finally we are the family Stang and proud to be so!!
